With that in mind, in this article we’ll introduce you to five coffee brewing methods that not only elevate the quality of the beverage, but also add a unique touch to your guests’ stay.

The art of brewing: 5 different methods to brew coffee

In order for you to impress your guests with that delicious cup of the beverage that everyone loves, we have brought you 5 coffee brewing methods. Check them out:

1. The French press

The French press is a classic coffee brewing method that never goes out of style.

For preparation, a cylindrical container with a press, also known as a plunger, usually made of glass or stainless steel, is used. In the process, the ground coffee is mixed with hot water, and after some steeping time, usually four to five minutes, the plunger is pressed, separating the coffee grounds from the liquid.

The result is a beverage that preserves the natural oils and robust flavors of coffee, making it a popular choice for those who appreciate the beverage.

2. The art of espresso

Espresso, the heart and soul of Italian coffee culture, is another fantastic choice for your hotel’s coffee service.

The espresso machine is a precision instrument that operates with high pressure, ensuring that water is forced through the ground coffee evenly and quickly. This enhances the creaminess and intensity of the espresso, producing a concentrated and flavorful liquid.

In addition, the beauty of espresso lies in its versatility; it serves as the basis for several coffee-based beverages, including cappuccinos and lattes, for example.

3. The refined Hario V60

For those who enjoy a more delicate and refined coffee, this is the ideal method.

Known for its simplicity and ability to enhance the natural flavors of coffee, the V60 is a brewing technique that involves the use of specific equipment called Hario V60, created by the Japanese brand itself.

The Hario V60 is a cone-shaped filter holder, usually made of ceramic, glass or plastic, with a large hole at the bottom. And for the preparation, it is necessary to place a paper filter inside, add the ground coffee and pour water over it in circular movements. The water passes through the coffee, drawing out its flavors and aromas, and flows into a jug or cup beneath it.

It is a method that embodies precision and elegance, resulting in a cup of coffee that is fresh and rich in flavor nuances.

4. Preparation with a syphon

The syphon technique is a fascinating fusion of visual art and sensory exploration, which harmonizes principles of physics and chemistry to elevate the coffee experience.

Originally from Germany, this methodology is carried out in a device usually composed of a heat source and two chambers separated by a vacuum tube – the lower one, where the water is initially poured, and the upper one, where coarse-ground coffee is placed. The process begins when the water in the lower chamber reaches the boiling point and turns into steam, creating a vacuum that pulls the hot water through the tube into the coffee chamber. The coffee and the water mix, go through a steeping period, and then the removal of heat allows the coffee to return to the lower chamber through a filtration process.

The result is a clear beverage with sharp flavors and a smooth body that enhances the unique characteristics of the coffee used.

5. Cold brew, the smooth coffee

To offer your guests a refreshing coffee experience, it is worth considering cold brew coffee.

The beginning of the method consists of placing coarse-ground coffee in an airtight container, mixing it with cold water. After the cold brew, which usually lasts between 12 and 24 hours, it is necessary to filter the coffee to remove the ground beans by using a paper, cloth or metal filter.

The result is a concentrated coffee, remarkably smooth and with reduced acidity, perfect to be served on ice. This is the perfect option for those guests who enjoy a cup of iced coffee, especially on hot summer days.
